jackbrennan2008 Posted June 5, 2009 Posted June 5, 2009 Ok, I have been getting this 'nvlddmkm stopped responding' error with my system and my new GTX 295 which has become irritating. So after experimenting with new drivers and driver cleaner and what not i decided to test my ram. I have 6gb's of Corsair Dominator ram, 2x 2048 modules and 2x 1024 modules so i tested it like this with Memtestx86+ boot cd: Ram is rated at 5-5-5-15 @ 2.1 volts however i set the ram to 2.2v just to be sure. Test 1: 2x 2048 (4gb) - Ran non stop no errors Test 2: 2x 1024 (2gb) - Ran on stop no errors Test 3: 2x 2048 and 2x 1024 (6gb) - Passed the first pass then just hangs at test 5 in the 2nd pass and i have to do a hard reset. Could i have a problem when matching two module sizes together? I am running a Rampage formula X48 mother board. Any suggestions? jackbrennan2008 Posted June 5, 2009 Posted June 5, 2009 I just got myself some Kingston Hyperx and put the dominators in my wifes PC. I let crysis warhead do an infinite benchmark loop while i was at work today and when i got home it was still running! So it seems my ram was the problem, it didnt like running at 1066mhz. Thakn christ it was as simple as, its only been one day but ive never been able to get through 4 to 5 benchmark loop in warhead before the swap, so lets hope it stay this way =D
neb1211 Posted June 6, 2009 Posted June 6, 2009 Was the memory installed in the correct slots to be ran in dual channel mode? I have noticed that some motherboards will have issues if two sticks of different brands, capacity, specs, etc. The fact that both sets of ram work fine when the other is not installed when the other is not, lead me to that conclusion. jackbrennan2008 Posted June 6, 2009 Posted June 6, 2009 (edited) Well the 4 ram modules were exactly the same specs: Corsair Dominators 2.1v 5-5-5-15 1066mhz The only difference between the two kits was the version number, one kit was 4.1 and the other was 1.1 and also the size a 4gb kit and a 2gb kit. When i had them installed they were paired in dual channell. 2gb - 1gb - 2gb - 1gb So there just must have been some sort in incompatibility between the two sets of ram.
