Onion Posted June 5, 2009 Posted June 5, 2009 I'm ripping my blu-ray discs to my pc so I don't need to get the disc out to watch movies. I'm ripping them as ISO, but they are taking up A LOT of space. What format could I use to make the size smaller? Is h.264 ok, and is it high quality but compressed? Onion Posted June 5, 2009 Posted June 5, 2009 Also, I need a player other than powerdvd 9 ultra, its really glitchy and gives me lots of trouble. Anyone have any ideas?
XxHellxRaizerxX Posted June 5, 2009 Posted June 5, 2009 I believe H.264 is the same codec Blu-Ray uses if I'm not mistaken. If you make them H.264 then any program such as Windows Movie Maker or VLC can play the format.
Onion Posted June 5, 2009 Posted June 5, 2009 Awesome. What format can I use to make the files smaller though?
XxHellxRaizerxX Posted June 5, 2009 Posted June 5, 2009 a lower bit-rate of H.264 will or, or Divx.
Silverfox Posted June 5, 2009 Posted June 5, 2009 Doom9 is a good place to get this kind of advice from people. Watch your bitrates though - on a 1080p rip, you should be able to get a file size of ~12GB at ~14000kbps etc. Just check out the scene standards. Andrewr05 Posted June 5, 2009 Posted June 5, 2009 Yeah thats the best way to go, head over to TPB and check their claimed bitrates, filesize, runtimes, codecs and such and that will tell you where to start...
