Card for second rig

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys!

I am looking to make my second rig (the E6850 in my sig) a little better at gaming. Originally it was gonna get my 8800GTX, but since that has died, and XFX are refusing to RMA it, I now have no easy way to get more power into this system.

I want to use it for games like Left 4 Dead, so when friends come over, they can join me for a game on that. Currently, it dosent run L4D well at all. It only has a 17" LCD, so is running @ 1280x1024, with most detail settings on Medium or Low, and no AA/AF. The game still just about hits 30 FPS and seems un-smooth.

In town, I can pickup another 8600GT 256 for

ya I was wondering the exact same thing, what gives?

Basically, they said I need to return the card to the e-tailer I bought it from. Problem is, I didn't buy the card, an friend did. I am no longer in contact with this person, so cant ask him to RMA it.

I explained to them the card was a gift etc, and they just wouldn't budge. They said either send it to the etailer, or we can "part exchange" it, and offered me a GTX260 for

Yea XFX is now NEVER getting my, or any of the people I knows buisness. I will PAY MORE just to NOT own there products any more. Such a weak warranty its un-true.

In contrast, as you may have seen, I got an ASUS ENGTX285 in place of the 8800GTX, and it whines under load. I fired off a mail to ask ASUS if that was a problem, and they provided some very detailed troubleshooting steps, and immediately offered to replace the card for me! Not to mention I got a response within 12 hrs! So yea, ASUS is in my good books atm! :)
