Hi, as the title suggests sometimes my pc boots up quick and other times it seems to be very slow. As in sometimes after the vista welcome screen i see a black screen with nothing but my mouse that i can move. However i dont even see this black screen.

How does that work?

thanks

How can you see a black screen but not see it? I'm confused..anyways, try running chkdsk, defraging etc.

Well thats all i see, no desktop just a black screen and my mouse

EDIT

Sorry see what you mean, i ment sometimes i get the black screen problem and sometimes it misses that bit out and i go straight to the desktop, like you would expect to happen

might be a video card problem.

are you using a video card?

if so, is the latest driver installed for it?

if you have an extra video card or onboard video, maybe try one and see if things are different.

may be something to do with the operating system, but would try this first.

are you using an anti-virus program?

what about anti-spyware?

a full system scan with malwarebytes may not be a bad idea either.

Hi Stuart,

I had the same thing when I used Pista.

It turned out to be a combo of 2 things...

1st are you using a dl'd version of Pista or a store bought original?...

(Don't answer that just think)

2nd it was a HDD problem so do as Marine said and try chkdsk for hard drive probs.

I know how you feel as I had that problem too
