Need A Cheap P4 Mobo

Recommended Posts

I need a new P4 mobo. My moms Abit IT-7 is dead and I am sure it is the board. I am just looking for a good mobo. What im looking for in a mobo is just for it to be P4 based, DDR memory, on board sound, on board lan if possible (not necessary) and 8x AGP. I have looked at alot from Abit and Asus. What mobo would you recommend. My price range is up to $100. Just try and keep it down as much as possible. Even though I have looked at alot I know that their are a few that are better than others and some that I can get the better bang for the buck. What are some recommendations on some motherboards. Here are her specs as of now.

P4 2.26 V7+

40gb hd

512 ddr pc2100

GF4 Ti4600 8x

8x4x32 cdrw

Not many people think of Albatron when they are looking for motheboards. They are inexpensive, and have great feature. I absolutely love my KX18D Pro. It overclocks very well, and easy to set up. I know somebody with the motherboard below. Has a 3.0GHz P4 overclocked to over 3.7GHz on it. Supports 800MHz FSB, SATA, Dual Channel DDR400, Onbord LAN, 8x AGP, 5.1 audio, Intel 865PE chipset, only $80

Haha About the gaming part...She is a gamer...I just recently had to upgrade her vid card to the Ti4600....Her old MX440 sucked. She plays role playing games alot. I know its kinda hard to believe a 57 year old woman sitting in front of a computer playing games all day but yeah thats my mom. Right now she is not too happy without her comp. She is using mine only because she wants to play her games.

:huh::blink: 57 playing rpg games infront of the computer uhhh did i miss somthing here

Nope you didn't. First we had her on games way back when the NES was out then she went on with the Snes, N64, Playstation 1 and 2 and a few others. Then I got her on the computer and she hasn't gone back since. She only played the Final Fantasy games on the playstation and now she is hooked on the computer. I got her the computer so she would get away from the TV. It is nice to watch TV every now and then but kinda hard when she hogs it all playing her games nonstop.

Abit IS7 is $100 @ NewEgg, has the Intel SATA RAID (which I know, you don't need - hell, shouldn't mama have a fast RAID-0 array?? :P ), overclocks great, and is generally a pretty full featured board. I'd stay away from Gigabyte-me, their motherboards are not known for stability or durability.
