lilbod Posted May 31, 2009 Posted May 31, 2009 Just about to invest in 3 new monitors for some serious tripple head gaming! Problem is I have been living under a rock for the last 10 years and I'm still using my 20" crt monitor, so I'm not an expert on what to look for when it comes to a gaming monitor. I'm willing to spend around
hardnrg Posted May 31, 2009 Posted May 31, 2009 How are you planning on driving 3 monitors? You could buy another graphics card or use a TripleHead2Go on one of the DVIs to get 1920x1200 + 2x1920x1200 (that might not even work) Maybe read this to get some ideas: http://www.widescreengamingforum.com/wiki/...x.php/TH2Go_FAQ
lilbod Posted May 31, 2009 Posted May 31, 2009 (edited) Hey hardnrg, you always seem to come up when I have a question!! I will be using SoftTh software to run the 3 monitors, have done a test setup with this and I'm happy with it. The TH2Go is a bit expensive and at the minute don't see why I have to fork out on it when I can use SoftTh software for free. Have a 280gtx running 2 monitors and a 7900gt running the other, my 280gtx does all the rendering. I guess my question would be which out of the 4 monitors are best for gaming. Zertz Posted May 31, 2009 Posted May 31, 2009 I'd get either the BenQ or Samsung Somewhat off-topic but: http://www.widescreengamingforum.com/forum...pic.php?t=16077 3x 30" monitors... sick

Already took some shots on COD4 http://img27.imageshack.us/img27/1696/cod4u.jpg http://img27.imageshack.us/img27/8391/soft...00002879109.jpg Can I just ask, are you not going for the ASUS monitor as it's smaller?? Zertz Posted June 1, 2009 Posted June 1, 2009 IMO, 1080p on 21" will just be too small
lilbod Posted June 1, 2009 Posted June 1, 2009 Not sure if my setup could cope with 1080p across 3 screens, on my test setup I had it setup at 1280x1024 x 3 = 3840x1024.

All four monitors you listed are 1080p though Edited June 1, 2009 by Zertz
lilbod Posted June 2, 2009 Posted June 2, 2009 I would change the resoulution when playing across the 3 screens to something more suitable. I take it to get the 1080p I would have to use a dvi to hdmi cable? It's just none of these monitors apart from the Asus one says it has a hdmi input. HDMI carries sound and video rather than DVI which only carries video.

As stated above, HDMI is just the same signal as DVI, but with the option of carrying audio too. DVI is more than capable of displaying 1080p
lilbod Posted June 2, 2009 Posted June 2, 2009 Thanks for the info, as I say been living under a rock for years and still have my trusty crt monitor so getting as much info before I fork out is great!
