Phil Posted May 21, 2009 Posted May 21, 2009 Had a power outage last night, on/off several times before quitting. I go to start my computer this AM and it won't boot, flashes the Windows XP screen briefly then back to the boot menu. The computer was on a power strip but not a UPS, and was on standby when the power failed. I have another Windows install and Ubuntu on a second drive, both boot normally, and can see and access the contents of C. The bios seems to be using the multiboot boot.ini on C. The C drive tests OK hardware-wise. I tried a MBR repair with Paragon Partition Manager, no change. I tried the recovery console, but I'm wary because it lists C and F, and I don't know which is which since the only bootable Windows is now showing as C in My Computer. I've not lost any data, but I've got a lot of installed apps that would be a pain to reinstall. Any thoughts?
