TheConqueror Posted May 20, 2009 Posted May 20, 2009 Hey guys.. Anyway my grandfather recently migrated and brang with him his PC. I do not know what the processor is exactly, I am guessing it is a pentium 4, and it has 1GB of DDR2 RAM. Basically I removed the PSU since it was european voltage (220V) and after changing PSU's and all, I found out it has a switch on the back that goes to 115V (north american standard). So now whenever we press the button on the front of the case, the fans just start to spin and stop after about 1 second. No boot screen, POST, nothing. The case and CPU fans start to spin, same result. Motherboard has one green LED shining. I tried 2 different PSUs, and finally the one from my build, a 700W OCZ StealthXStream, to no success. What should I do? My dad want's to take it to a "professional" tommorow, and it's sort of ruining my rep as the only tech-savvy person in the house
My_Inner_Fred Posted May 20, 2009 Posted May 20, 2009 Could it be damage on the motherboard or CPU during the transport?

maj0rgamer Posted May 20, 2009 Posted May 20, 2009 (edited) have you tried putting the psu you took out back in? perhaps you should put it back in and set the voltage to 115v with the switch. make sure all wires are connected and snug. if that doesn't work, it's either time to start troubleshooting or go ahead and take it to somebody and let them do it... be sure and ask questions if it ends up going to a shop, maybe you can learn something new. TheConqueror Posted May 20, 2009 Posted May 20, 2009 I have no idea, I consulted with a person who built at least 50 computers, everything is snug, all wires are connected. I already put in the power supply that came with the computer and set it to 115 and it didn't work either
maj0rgamer Posted May 20, 2009 Posted May 20, 2009 seems like a motherboard issue. was the pc plugged in at all and tried to power on with european voltage set? if so, this unfortunately probably fried something on the motherboard.
