jackbrennan2008 Posted May 19, 2009 Posted May 19, 2009 Ok, I have got a new shiny GTX 295 so ive decided to start folding, now i see all these threads about how awesome their PPD is? Im guessing its the amount of work per second or something but how so i find out mine? Under the performance sub heading i get about 500 to 700 ns /day and it maybe takes 45 minutes to complete one work unit. How does all that translate into PPD. Sorry for the noob question =D Jack. Crazy_Nate Posted May 19, 2009 Posted May 19, 2009 Download a program like FahMon. Tell it the working directory. After a little while it will tell you your "PPD" (points per day). You can also use fah stats sites, like EOC and kakaostats. Look at your average production for one day

Verran Posted May 20, 2009 Posted May 20, 2009 Also, keep in mind that programs like FahMon can wildly exaggerate your PPD. It tries to predict your work unit completion time, and it gets more accurate the longer it's been collecting data for the current work unit, so right at the beginning it doesn't have much data and it can be pretty inaccurate. The EOC numbers are my preference because that's based on the work you've completed and submitted, which means you know it's accurate. Crazy_Nate Posted May 20, 2009 Posted May 20, 2009 Exactly. It also shows the effects of various downtimes (not uploading WU's, not receiving work, gaming, etc) While my graphics card is capable of up to 7k PPD (I've hit it once in a blue moon), it will routinely produce 4-4500 PPD with limited use of the computer for gaming.
