DexRain Posted May 16, 2009 Posted May 16, 2009 So I'm planning on doing an AM3 build towards the end of July (or whenever the 5k series ATI cards are released) with the money I'm saving from my summer job, and I just want to do as much research as I can before that to make sure I'm going to have a computer that's going to last me as long as my current rig has. I've been using Asus boards pretty much since I started building computers with my A78NX-X and Athlon XP 2000+ and haven't had any problems with them aside from one crappy budget M-ATX board, and while I'm leaning heavily towards them do to nearly 8 years of good experience, the high end Asus boards are expensive o.o I know the old adage "You get what you pay for" probably comes into play here. In the spirit of open-mindedness, and in attempt to be kind to my wallet ^^; I'm going to be looking into other motherboard manufacturers aside from Asus, right now I'm looking into DFI and Gigabyte. I've heard a lot of good about Gigabyte, more about their Intel boards than their AMD boards, but if their AMD boards OC as well as the EP45-UD3P I should have nothing to worry about when it comes to OC'ing my new Phenom II Any long time Gigabyte owners here that can vouch for their reliability? Every Asus board I've ever owned aside from the A8AE LE I pulled from an old HP Pavilion still works fine. The DFI reviews I've read have been a mixed bag, great when they work but a nightmare when they don't. They are cheaper than Asus and are supposed to be awesome for overclocking though. If anyone could share their experiences with these brands or point me towards some good reviews or comparisons it would be much appreciated =]
d0w0rk24 Posted May 17, 2009 Posted May 17, 2009 I recommend the MSI GD-70, it is one of the best boards on the market right now
