Darkventures Posted May 15, 2009 Posted May 15, 2009 Hi guys, I received my new components today and I have installed them all. Now I was looking in the bios-menu's and when I came to the tab "AI Tweaker" I saw a totally new menu. My question is how can i proceed to overclock my new cpu ??? System overview : CPU : Intel Core i7 920 D0 Mainbord : Asus PT6 SE Memory : OCZ DDR3 1600 3 x 2GB Platinum (7-7-7-24) 1.65 Volts Hope someone can help me understand this :thumbs-up:
Glow of fire Posted May 16, 2009 Posted May 16, 2009 (edited) Increase Bclck in the Bios until it isn't prime95 stable, then increase volts until it is, raise bclck, etc. That's the gist of it, it gets a bit more complicated when you're going a bit hardcore, like 4.0Ghz+(which the D0 chips easily do) Edited May 16, 2009 by Glow of fire

There's much more that goes into overclocking the i7, like uncore and QPI speed, as well as a whole new host of voltages most overclockers have never seen. I would recommend searching google for a good beginners guide to overclocking the i7 and then come back here with specific questions you may have. I'll be more than happy to help you if have specific questions regarding your overclock on your specific hardware. Darkventures Posted May 16, 2009 Posted May 16, 2009 Thanks guys for your replies. I've been looking around the net and got some useful info and as we speak my system is running at 3,8 Ghz with the Core i7 920 cpu. It is running very stable maybe i'm going a bit further with overclocking when I have a new cpu-cooler to replace the current intel cooler which came with the cpu. Thanx
