PabloEscobar Posted January 3, 2004 Posted January 3, 2004 It's never been this hot before. Ever since i got this folding@home program yesterday and started running it... Its raised the temp from 61-64C to 72C!!! How the hell.
caffeinejunkie Posted January 3, 2004 Posted January 3, 2004 Pablo your going to want to get a new heatsink and a duct mod or some more fans or something since most cpus won't last past 80c. I was worried when mine was hitting 50c.So you need to do something or you will have one dead comp
PabloEscobar Posted January 3, 2004 Posted January 3, 2004 I just ordered a new HSF. Whats a duct though? How is it used? Right now i can tell you that my idle temps are 63C and my load temps are 72C! Thats crazy and i have no idea why. The true temps are not that high though... because when i go into my BIOS the tmep in there always sais its like 5C lower then what this "Corecenter" program sais. My heatsink it really not absorbing heat well at all. I seriously hope this new TT volcano 7+ and artic thermal grease will do the job and drastically lower these temps. Im really worrried. I really don't understand how it can get this hot?!?! Im so boggled right now. I wish i knew the reason!
c0ld Posted January 4, 2004 Posted January 4, 2004 (edited) Hmm.. I read not too long ago that AMD processors are safe at below 90C, which shocked me. Back in the day I had an 1800+ that ran at ~55C idle . But it never quit on me or anything. Edited January 4, 2004 by c0ld
