Rockstone Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 Hello, I have been searching around and checking several different Forums in the hope I will be able to find an answer to a question that has been bugging me. Which of these computer cases should I buy? My Specs will be: Phenom II 3.0 GHZ (To be Overclocked) 4 Gigs of DDR2 800 RAM 4870 512 MB 750 GB Hard Drive From order of what I think is the best to what I think is only average, here is my list (I need a case that will both look Sleek and Modern, and help cool the computer) The Lexa Blackline (Which looks sexy, but I worry the LEDs might be too bright, and the case too small and get to hot, if those worries are unfounded, I'll buy it!) [http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811146038] The NZXT Tempest (Looks nice, but nothing but nice, I don't like the look much) [http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811146047] The Thermaltake Mid Tower Armor (Meh, It looks like I could throw it from 10 feet in the air and it would hit the ground in one piece) [http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811133062] The Xclio A380BK (It looks nice, and is a cheapish full tower) [http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811103010] The Apevia X-Cruiser (All these gauges, too bad they aren't digital, but its a cheap mid tower that looks nice, but it may suffocate?) [http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811144151] The Antec 900 (I have heard good and bad things about this one, and it looks to small and puny, but its an option) [http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811129021]
AMG Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 yo mate, hmm I m in the same postion here, I persome you are going to have a fairly big heatsink ? well the armor is a big case even its Jr, but I m getting rid of mine and yes you can throw it out the window if you can pick the damm thing up why not the coolermaster HAF( smaller version) not the 932 unless you want a full size case, but judgeing from these they all or midi
Rockstone Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 Not really, my heat sink will probably be a mid-sized one at most. Does the Phenom II not handle heat very well? I plan to use the sink that comes with the CPU, and then when I buy my Video Card and Powersupply, get a mid-sized heat sink. The Lexa looks really nice, good to know I'm not the only one with this problem.
AMG Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 I wouldn't use stock at all for CPUs particaly if Overclocked. plus if it lets the temps get too high and it puts a burn through hte cores than you gotta buy a new cpu,
Rockstone Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 Thats a good idea. Whats Euro to USD again?

Rockstone Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 I'm on USD. Yeah, I did the conversion, still a bit too expensive right now, but I will probably get one when I plan to do the more serious overclocking. I'm upgrading my CPU and Case first, and then doing the Video Card, Power supply, and now fan.
AMG Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 you don't need to break the bank what and are your sure you new and old hardware will work togther ? as for the cooler something like a titan everyone has been talking about (reviewed on this website) would be more than enough depending on your target and its like the best bang for buck I should have put that in quote as I m open minded as it has some very identical cooler...sunbeam for one
Rockstone Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 Yes, I am sure that the hardware will work. The Motherboard will remain the same for 1 (M3A78), and for 2, the Video Card is the 9600 GT, which will also work.
JBags Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 I don't know anything about any of the other cases, but I have an Antec 900 (v.1) and I like it, fits all my crap into there lol and great airflow and cooling too. however, cable management is a little tough with the 900... and also I hear the stock cooler that comes with the Phenom IIs is actually pretty good and can keep the cpu running fairly cool under moderate OCs. It's by no means a TRUE, but for the time being you will most certainly be fine with the AMD stock. so if you dont want to buy an aftermarket cooler, or don't have the funds to, dont worry too much about it and just stick with the stock.
