tjmagneto Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 Im really impressed with the list! I am really glad nobody picked Corona aka ("Mexican piss in a bottle") lol.... I am really into the microbrews, there are so many out there it makes finding good brews fun! I've taken a vow to myself to never try a Corona. If I want a brew from south of the border it's going to most likely be a Negro Modelo or a Dos Equis Amber. Currently I have some Sierra Nevada Celebration Ale and Gordon Biersch Marzen waiting to be consumed. I sure got a heck of a deal on the Sierra Nevada at Costco but as usual for a Costco purchase it is taking a while to go through. Crazy_Nate Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 I hold my beer to the same standards I use for computers. Components must be quality. Must be at the proper temperature. No dust...things like that.
Makaveli Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 Black and Tan!! Guinness on top, Bass on bottom - a true Irishman's drink . Pouring them is half the fun though...(We ran out of Bass so we had to use Harps)
Kingfisher Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 Budweiser, there is no other beer for me and lord knows I have drank plenty nectar of the gods. I always come back to Budweiser, the King of Beers. :thumbs-up:
kingdingeling Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 As LoArmistead already mentioned on the first page, 99% of American beers taste like piss! I can not understand how no one has mentioned any German beer yet, I mean we invented that stuff! Top Beers in order: 1.) Becks / Becks Gold / Becks Green Lemon <-- from Germany obviously 2.) Gilde Ratskeller <-- Local beer in Hannover, Germany 3.) Bitburger <-- Another German beer, we even get it Down Under 4.) Tooheys Extra Dry / Tooheys New <-- Australian beer, not all that bad actually 5.) Corona <-- Mexican beer, that's only for when you're in a restaurant though, as a carton of that stuff is just too expensive Ohh, and if anyone of you guys ever makes it to Australia, don't bother with XXXX Gold, it tastes just like American beer... meaning there's no taste to it! I resent that... CHEAP American beer takes like piss. There are plenty of excellent microbreweries...some of my favorites. Back on topic. Anyone ever try a Samichlaus? It's a doppelbock (There's a German beer type for ya!)...had it on tap in south Boston. Man...simply fantastic!
Andrewr05 Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 CHEAP American beer takes like piss. There are plenty of excellent microbreweries...some of my favorites.Agreed However I think everyone would agree that American "style" beer is disgusting (Just like I'm sure not all Irish beer is good and not all German beer is good), most of the microbreweries aren't brewing that type of beer they're actually brewing traditional beers... Ferretbomb Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 Black and Tan looks amazing, will have to try it. We do the same with Guiness and smirnoff ice, black and white, good for summer B:)
razor Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 I dont always drink beer, but when I do, I prefer - Blue Moon - Hacker Pschorr w/slice of orange - Leinie's Red - Leinie's Sunset Wheat and/or Honey Weiss - Sapporo also, I've got a bottle of Duchess De Bourgogne that my brother gave me as a b-day present. from what I can tell, beer nuts love this stuff, and it's won a few fancy sounding awards. anybody tried this particular brew? opinions? Crazy_Nate Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 Razor, have you ever had a flemish red / flanders red / sour ale before? I've had a couple, and, they're good, but very different. Just expect it to be sour.
