Rockrtx Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 I use Real temp to monitor my temp on my i7 and notice core 2 at idle is always hotter by 4-5 degre than core 3,core 1 and 3 are equal. At max load core 0 is the hottest and core 3 the coldest by 4-5 degre, core 1 and 2 are equal. All core are under the same cooler so i believe they should be equal temp so Which core temp should i trust? or explain it to me why the difference? Crazy_Nate Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 Inter-core temperature differences exist from slight manufacturing differences, 4 or 5 degrees is fine (I'd use the highest value as your limiting factor)
Onion Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 Crazy, you are scaring me now. Theres a 15 degree difference between my 1st core and 4th core on my Q9450 lmfao. First is at 44 and fourth is around 57.
Kingfisher Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 (edited) Crazy, you are scaring me now. Theres a 15 degree difference between my 1st core and 4th core on my Q9450 lmfao. First is at 44 and fourth is around 57. Intel quads are notorious for having stuck sensers. My core 0 is stuck until the chip gets over 40c then it starts monitoring. Maybe yours is just stuck all the time. Edited May 13, 2009 by Kingfisher
razor Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 I've noticed another Core Temp inconsistency related to temps. I use Everest to monitor all of my important system values - temps, voltages, etc. at its current speed, my CPUs temps @ 100% are reported by Everest to be around 33 C. Core Temp, on the other hand, reports those temps almost exactly 10 C higher, at around 43-44 C. anybody know which reading is more accurate, and why the difference in reports from the two apps? I'm not sure, but I think it has something to do with some Tjmax setting or something like that. I'd use the higher one, because it will make the processor colder than you think if the other one IS right.
