xly15 Posted May 10, 2009 Posted May 10, 2009 I Have have some movies that are Japanese that are mkv files with english subtitles. The subtitles are not showing up. Why?
WhenKittensATK Posted May 10, 2009 Posted May 10, 2009 (edited) This will work in VLC(No clue) and KMPlayer (Press Alt+X), not sure about others and NOT WMP or WMC. Play the video, right click on the movie and move to subtitles. Then from there either enable it to show subtitles or pick the language. Andrewr05 Posted May 10, 2009 Posted May 10, 2009 If there are no embedded subtitles you may have to get standalone subtitles and use those...
xly15 Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 it has embedded subtitles. at least that is what my friend told me.

xly15 Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 I like using Media Player classic. That is where my problem is really at. KMPlayer will just have to until i get MLC working again. so if anyone can help me it would be appreciated.
cold_snipe Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 I use cccp + classic player, and it just works for me for pretty much all mkv files with subtitles.
hardnrg Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 I like using Media Player classic. That is where my problem is really at. I use MPC too... you need to set the video output mode to a type that is compatible with displaying graphics over video... Note the double asterisks modes (and the footnote):
xly15 Posted May 12, 2009 Posted May 12, 2009 No other movies files have a problem displaying subtitles though, just the mkv ones. I really don't know what is going on.
RaPiDo987 Posted May 17, 2009 Posted May 17, 2009 You need to have a .srt file that has the sub with it. When ever there were free .mkv, it always came with a .srt file that contain the subs.... Hope this helps
