greengiant912 Posted May 9, 2009 Posted May 9, 2009 http://www.joystiq.com/2009/05/06/rumor-du...alms-shut-down/ Well I guess it really is vaporware.... Maybe they will do like Interplay did with fallout and sell the IP to someone who can get er done! Seeing as the company is likely in huge debut they are going to need to pay it off some how, what better idea then selling the IP to Duke Nukem! Kash Posted May 9, 2009 Posted May 9, 2009 I wouldn't be surprised if they did end up selling the IP to another company and then have the game be released within months. Then there will be a plethora of fanboys complaining about how the game wasn't quite as good had 3D Realms got around to making it. slick2500 Posted May 9, 2009 Posted May 9, 2009 (edited) Personally I do not think that 3DRealms would have ever gotten around to making the game, here is a video review from last year where Jace Hall actually got to play Duke Nukem Forever. I find it funny when he asked the devs "What the . is taking so long" and there response was well there was the hookers and a lot of crack. Andrewr05 Posted May 10, 2009 Posted May 10, 2009 That sucks. Even from a non-Duke point of view 3D realms closing sucks, they made quite a few games from my childhood... Commander Keen anyone? If any game needs a full on high res reboot its those games... :/ (oh and of course a full 100% canon remake of the first Deus Ex in something like Unreal Engine 3 or better)

Crazy_Nate Posted May 12, 2009 Posted May 12, 2009 Woah! How much did you pick that up for? Hey Andrew, the entire ID superpack was $35 over the last holiday sale...I'm sure commander keen by itself is cheaaap. I never played it as a kid, but, I tried it recently...Nothing like playing a DOS based game on a 32" HDTV, right?
Andrewr05 Posted May 12, 2009 Posted May 12, 2009 Hey Andrew, the entire ID superpack was $35 over the last holiday sale...Thats a hell of a deal...I never played it as a kid, but, I tried it recently...Nothing like playing a DOS based game on a 32" HDTV, right?Even on a 20" screen it looks a bit blocky... Does anyone know what is going to happen to all of 3D Realms' previous games? Obviously they wont become freeware but does another company now have to buy the rights for every individual game?
