7750BE Nightmare

Recommended Posts

Just to warn you this is my first overclock.

so im uping the multiplier and i cant get any higher than 2.9ghz at stock voltage, core 1 fails but core 2 will go alot higher i had to admit to being dissapointed as others have managed to get it to 3.1 or 3.2.

But oh well i thought so i start uping the voltage low and behold this stabalises core 1 but core 2 becomes unstable and wont go any higher than 2.9.

ive put it down to either my asus M2N-SLI AM2 board as its pretty old and is causeing the issue or ive just drawn an unlucky kuma chip.

any thoughts guys?

As with any overclock there isn't an exact outcome. One core can fail or the other can or both.

Without listing your hardware it wil be difficult to pinpoint, whether your clock is failing because of RAM settings, voltage settings, power supply not strong enough or any of those combined.

Temps also can play a role, what monitoring programs are you using and what temps have you recorded?

hi dude, why don't u try putting more volt on the cpu, mine was never successful till i try cranking up the voltage.. the thing will run games stable at 2.9 stock voltage but the moment u put it under full load (prime95, OCCT) it will just go bsod in a few minute

and one more thing, i don't really know how the oc will go with am2 based board since the HT link is just 1000mhz max.. mine is am2+ and you have to set the ht link and nb freq lower if want to try oc'ing the HTT/FSB

here's a shot of my cpuz, do ignore the temp cause my room temp is kinda hot right now since my A/c is offline  but usually the temp never goes beyond 60C

i'm still testing for other way to oc the cpu but i guess i'm stuck with it since my A/c is out and my crappy PSU( no brand  ) is not giving enough juice..

What setting have you changed to get to 2.8/2.9...?

the M2N series of boards were crap...I hated everyone of them...especially the early ones with the 230 mhz bug...

to realize the full potential of that chip you'll need at least a 790 chipset...

I wouldnt waste my time on a Nvidia chipset board...

Really need 790FX/GX + SB750 to OC any Phenom-based chips well. Without ACC they are crap. I got a 7750 to play with and I couldn't get it past 2.9GHz without putting 1.6V through on my SB600 board. It was stupid. They are terrible OCers, and the only way to get a decent OC is with a Southbridge 750 board.

its fully stable at 2.9 passed a toture test on prime95 and thats at stock voltage.

as i said ive tryed higher voltages but 2.9 just seems to be the cap no matter what i do.

gunna try cranking the volts a litle higher to 1.425 and see if i can get it above 3ghz failing that i recon im juts going to have to buy a new motherboard

ok so ill ignore cpu-z voltage

ive managed to get it stable at 3ghz now at 1.425v multiplier at x15. prime95 has been running for 20mins and still going so i think that should be stable. fingers crossed

to be honest i am unsure what i am am doint with TRFC so i havnt touched it? any advice would be welcome

TRFC is the ram slot frequency...to tight and it requires more vcore...

to loose and performance suffers

even with CPU clocks getting higher the board and CPU relies on the TRFC to scale with it regardless of timing...try setting all slots the same at 102.5 or looser

Do you have AMD OverDrive installed? I've noticed on my system I cannot have it installed. It overrides the bios settings no matter what. I had to uninstall it to keep it from dropping my voltage back to stock when I booted into Windows. If you have it installed, it might be doing the same to you.
