Title says it all, to start, I am 20 years old and I just got back to the states this month. It was incredible, and should make for quite the interesting thread. Pics can be provided.

What were you doing in thailand?

basically I read advice from a "coworker" to travel if you are able to, and he and many others recommended Thailand. I decided to go, and invited along other "coworkers" to join in for a three month stay there. We all went arrived within two days of each other, met for the first time there, and partied for a couple weeks. We eventually found a house we could rent for our stay, in Phuket, Thailand.

How does it sound, meeting five people for the first time after only having talked on the internet, and already having predetermined living arrangements with them for three months on the other side of the world? :)

The only real goal was to have a good time. Do you mean anything in specific?

I've been to Thailand, I'm half Thai lol... but I've only been once for 4 weeks... how did you manage to stay for 3 months? Did you have to work some of the time?

is it true what they say about asian men =x "

-Everything I have heard from the Thai girls indicates that yes, what they say about Asian men is true. Even the two Asians I went with had a reputation for proving this point.

was the food good and are the people friendly...?

I always thought the ladies are very pretty there...never been there though "

-The people in Thailand were by far the nicest people I have ever met. The general amiability was remarkable. On several occasions, I was really drunk and walking down a street by myself, when a group of Thai people would randomly invite me over to have a drink. I would drink with them and talk a little bit, and they would offer me food, beer, whiskey, and a few laughs and never ask for anything in return, and decline any $ for the supplies. For the most part, people also went way out of their way to help out. We ran out of gas in our motorbike once, and a Thai man with his kids pulled over, pushed our motorbike around a mile himself (didn't want us to help push) while his kids followed, then paid for the gas without asking for the money from us. He didn't speak any English, and after we were all set, he just started to walk off after nodding his head and waving. We caught up to him and the kids, and gave him around $2-$3 extra on top of what he paid for the gas, and he was incredibly pleased and kept wai'ing us (a sign of respect/thanks). Also, when I checked into a hotel, the people who run the hotel would also frequently drink and invite us over to the table to talk, and we ended up being really good friends with everyone at this particular hotel.

Did you eat that really smelly fruit? I heard that it stinks SOOO bad that it's illegal to take it into the underground subway cause it's a closed area"

--that smelly fruit is durian. I actually did try some, it is a major local crop in Thailand. It is banned in some countries, and in airports. durian.jpg

Right next to pictures of a gun Xd out, drugs X'd out, there is a durian X'd out! They are quite heavy, and could be used as a lethal club I think. I didn't really like it, and yes, it was smelly, and I understand why it is illegal in some countries, as the smell was quite offensive (we left one open in our house for a day or so... big mistake).

-We all stayed for three months, you can stay there indefinitely so long as you get a multi-entry visa, and you leave the country every 30 days (even just for a few seconds) to get your visa stamped. If you over-stay, you get fined 500 baht/day up to a maximum of 20,000 baht (around $600 usd max). It is best to just leave the country and return, a round-trip flight to malaysia only takes a few hours and is less than $200. I didn't have to work at all, and only did for maybe 40 hours over the three months. Is your mother or father Thai? Plan on going any time soon?

No. "

-okay

The town name was Phuket? Seriously? lol "

-The name of the island was Phuket yes, I thought it was pronounced F-IT before I left, but it is pronounced poo-ket. We lived in a town called Koh Kaew (sp?)

I just noticed the beach on the top left is called "Mai Khao" beach.. Mai Khao Jai is "I don't understand", thought that was kind of funny

Mostly just asking a broad question to get a good scope on what you were up to.

i saw the beach picture, did you travel around a bunch or mostly relax and party, or a bit of both?

Looks like fun! I've heard good things about phuket"

-I ended up flying around 15 times, and I went to: South Korea, Thailand, Malaysia, Laos, Cambodia in order. I went all around Thailand as well, went to Bangkok, Phuket, and the far North-Eastern border called "Issan".

I did a lot of all of the mentioned things. The first two weeks was mostly just getting unbelievably drunk and partying, and then I travelled around a lot, and near the end there was a lot of chilling on the amazing beaches. Could definitely go into great detail about any of those things!
