Verran Posted May 1, 2009 Posted May 1, 2009 I like the sidewinder because I think more keyboards should have the numberpad on the left, but it still looks way too gaudy with all that extra crap stuck on there. My Saitek Eclipse is the perfect blend of features and simplicity for me right now.
Yoosty Posted May 1, 2009 Posted May 1, 2009 None of the above, currently I am using a Saitek Cyborb Gaming keyboard :thumbs-up: . That replaced my Logitech G15. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16823175005 But I am waiting for the release mid May on the Logitech G19 Gaming Keyboard, by then I should have the money saved for it, since it will be around $199 and up. psycho_terror Posted May 1, 2009 Posted May 1, 2009 currently gaming with my logitech media elite, and my toshiba dinovo edge rip off for the couch. gaming keyboards are pretty pointless IMO. i don't need ten extra buttons when no game uses all the ones i already have. i would like to try the wolfking warrior/timberwolf or the saitek pro gamer, as they actually seem to offer significant ergonomic advantages over a regular keyboard. Kingfisher Posted May 1, 2009 Posted May 1, 2009 I never understood what a gaming keyboard is. I just assume its marketed for kids to beg their parents to buy them. I also use Saitek Eclipse and love it.
wevsspot Posted May 1, 2009 Posted May 1, 2009 NOTA Like Kingfisher I also use the Saitek Eclipse (in fact I'm on #2 after having worn the first one out).

Verran Posted May 1, 2009 Posted May 1, 2009 On the topic of "gaming keyboards" I think the only thing that really appeals to me is something like the Wolf-Claw keyboard. There's several other variants from other makers, but basically it has a whole gaming pad layout on the left side. That really qualifies as "gaming" inspired to me because it really maximizes the amount of hotkeys you can easily hit with one hand in games. The MS Sidewinder offers the ability to run the num-pad section on the left or right side of the normal keys, which is close, so that's why I like that one. The Wolf-Claw-ish keyboards are all too wide to fit on my keyboard tray, so the sidewinder would probably be the best I could do. But I like my Eclipse too much now to justify spending more money on something else. As for all the LCD screen nonsense that started with the G15, I just don't get it. I see people explain common uses for it but it all seems rather superfluous to me. Maybe "gimmicky" would be a better word, I don't know. maj0rgamer Posted May 1, 2009 Posted May 1, 2009 using a razer lycosa... took some getting used to the flat type buttons, but it's a nice keyboard nonetheless. havn't gotten into any macro-key stuff (binding key sequences to one key), which is probably one of the largest selling points of gaming keyboards. Andrewr05 Posted May 1, 2009 Posted May 1, 2009 I'm using the OCZ Alchemy Elixir that I won from OCC and its an excellent keyboard. No gaudy lights, no ridiculous colors, no LCD screens. It is essentially a media keyboard with hot keys...
