i7 motherboard and ram choices

Recommended Posts

the motherboard looks pretty sweet, I'd get the mushkin ram if I were getting an i7. for I say if one is go i7, then one is to do it right or not do it at all. ;)

What makes Mushkin right compared to the multitude of other ram available? Does it clock better on your i7 systems, require less voltage or what?

I'm not paying almost 3x the money for something that will probably make very little real world difference performance wise...

Timings make more of a difference than previously but clock speed is still king.

So true. For that kind of money you could kick in another $10.00 and pick some CAS 8 2000MHz rated sticks.

Ya I have my AMD 940 in a Foxconn Destroyer. It was the most well packaged motherboard i've ever bought. Isn't Foxconn the company that makes most of the stuff anyways and the others rebrand it? Or am I thinking of a different company...

The BR is a good board for the money. If you don't care for the extra NB block, NB pot, and onboard SAS I would just switch to the BR GTI and save a few dollars. I used the BR for a few days and was going to do a review on the BR vs. eVGA Classified vs. ASUS P6T but in the end it'll just be a review about the P6T and the Classified. I just didn't care for the board or the BIOS as much as I had hoped, but others may feel differently.

That RAM is good stuff and should run a good bit over 1600MHz. I've got a set sitting here beside me that runs extremely well and for the price it can't be beat. My favorites are still the Dominator GT line and Mushkin Redline...but GSkill is great when you are trying to save money.
