CheeseMan42 Posted December 31, 2003 Posted December 31, 2003 I am planning on building a new system with the following specs: Athlon XP 2500+ Barton Abit NF7-S 2.0 Kingston 2x256 PC2100 Radeon 9600XT I was wondering if I would be able to hit at least 2GHz with stock HSF and also if the PC2100 will prevent my efforts. Would it be better to buy a different HSF, and if so what would you recommend. Also, would I have better results with the Asus A7N8X Deluxe? Thanks in advance for any help. Guest Ballz2TheWallz Posted December 31, 2003 Posted December 31, 2003 (edited) yeah ditch the pc2100 geat atleast some mushkin, crosair, kingston, any other good bran pc3200 oh and i prefer abit over asus for sole reason that asus probes are wierd they report many people odly low idle and odly high loads compared to other systems with differnt mobo try using the abit an7 i think that would be best vs the nf7s because you get alot more voltage options Edited December 31, 2003 by Ballz2TheWallz
InvaderTrax Posted December 31, 2003 Posted December 31, 2003 Yeah. You'll want PC3200 RAM. Anyway, my friend is running 2200MHz (11x200) with his stock hfs. It's a little hot, but will work
Xtreme21 Posted December 31, 2003 Posted December 31, 2003 You have a nice setup there execpt for the Video Card, i would ditch the 9600XT and for $40 more bucks get the 9700pro or even the FX5900 and OC the **** out of it..

GTSticky Posted December 31, 2003 Posted December 31, 2003 No way, stay away from cards with only 4 pipelines. Radeon 9800 Pro 128MB cards are 250 on ebay, cheap cheap.
Paranoid Posted December 31, 2003 Posted December 31, 2003 I have my 9600XT @ 583/670 on stock cooling. Almost hit 15k in 3DMark2001
smithy Posted January 1, 2004 Posted January 1, 2004 I would keep the video card and get better ram- 2100 won't do justice for your board or cpu. 3200ram or above is the best way to go.
