Verran Posted April 8, 2009 Posted April 8, 2009 I would stop ALL bailout money dead in its tracks. Then I would get as much back of the stuff that's already been given as possible. The end. I would stop artificially propping up dead and outdated business models and let the market finally right itself like it's been trying so hard to do for quite some time now. Survival of the fittest works if you let it.

However in the long run taking such an approach in my opinion will benefit the USA a lot more than our current course of actions... The governments current direction (political affiliation is irrelevant, I'm referring to all governmental actions overall) as of right now in my opinion are unacceptable. A collapse and rebuild are about the only thing that can right our nation. Survival of the fittest works if you let it/AGREED again... Fighter1405 Posted April 8, 2009 Posted April 8, 2009 Can I be controversial and suggest we go ahead with the bailout? I think we need a greater emphasis on quantitative easing to free up credit supplies, as well as opening up the potential of the BofE (I'm british by the way) lending directly to the consumer again and selling that debt onto banks at a cut price. Not sure if that has ever been done with the federal reserve. Other than that I believe a lot of the recession is a confidence issue, nothing more. Once confidence starts to pick up we should see a sharp recovery.
Rokkaholik Posted April 8, 2009 Posted April 8, 2009 Before this turns into a complete turdfest... I'd like to remind people what the initial post was meant as HUMOR
Fighter1405 Posted April 8, 2009 Posted April 8, 2009 I think we got the original reply was humor, but it is still an interesting question
Blaise Posted April 8, 2009 Posted April 8, 2009 The good ol' economy... capitalism when all is good, then beg for socialism when things go pear-shaped.
LoArmistead Posted April 8, 2009 Posted April 8, 2009 (edited) It would certainly be cheaper and more efficient, wouldn't it? Only problem is it wouldn't give the big boys in DC the power to control everything. EDIT: But a good point was raised, seriously, what would we all do to fix the economy? Crazy_Nate Posted April 8, 2009 Posted April 8, 2009 With the stimuli, I always wondered why they gave everybody money, instead of, say, vouchers for American made goods. Hmmm...or is that too controlling?
Verran Posted April 8, 2009 Posted April 8, 2009 With the stimuli, I always wondered why they gave everybody money, instead of, say, vouchers for American made goods. Hmmm...or is that too controlling? My opinion on this is the same as my opinion on domestic cars. If American products were truly the best value, the government wouldn't have to trick us into buying them with stuff like this. And if they're not the best value, buying them anyways out of some strange patriotism just sends the message that you're willing to accept second rate products as long as they're stamped with an American flag (figuratively, of course).
