how much difference will it make if i put a PCI 2.0 card in PCI 1.0

eg. if i have a 9600GT which is a PCIE 2.0 card and im runnin it on PCI1.0 and it gives 45-50 FPS,how much will it give if i just put it in PCIE2.0

Little to no difference. Even a 4870X2 / GTX295 can't saturate a PCI-E 1.0 16x slot.

It's backwards compatible so it will work just fine and the bandwidth difference between the two is negligible because that card doesn't use that much bandwidth anyways. I'm not sure any cards do.

ya nothing has breached PCI 1.0 or 8x PCI-E 2.0's bandwidth. Hopefully the 5series ATI cards and 3 series nvidia cards will be the ones to change this

I've always wondered wether PCI-E x 16 1.0 would give the same performance as PCI-E x 8 2.0. Because surly there would be a difference betwen what they do and how they affect performance

They are identical in nearly every way except pin layout. One uses twice as many pins at half the signaling rate and one uses twice the signaling rate and half the pins.
