flareback Posted April 3, 2009 Posted April 3, 2009 They take pictures in public which is not an invasion of privacy, at least in the U.S of A. I know a lot of people get all worked up about it but taking pictures in public is not an invasion of privacy, that's why it's called public and not private. Coors Posted April 3, 2009 Posted April 3, 2009 No, seems kind of silly to me. If I wanted to break into a house I don't need google maps to do it. in fact if any burglers want to try.....bring it. I got an 870 that has a nasty bite. And soon an XD .
Andrewr05 Posted April 3, 2009 Posted April 3, 2009 For the most part they try to blur all faces and you can have your house removed if you do not want it on Street View si i think that a lot of people are overreacting... jammin Posted April 3, 2009 Posted April 3, 2009 (edited) There is nothing stopping any member of the public walking past my house and taking a few snaps and I don't see how having it on street view is going to hurt. Obviously it isn't really going to help a burglar break in. As for the "This is an affluent area...... If our houses are plastered all over Google it’s an invitation for more criminals to strike" argument, I think most people with any semblance of intelligence can easily work out which areas are "affluent" without any outside help. Yes, my house is grey. Edited April 3, 2009 by jammin
Onion Posted April 3, 2009 Posted April 3, 2009 I don't see how it's an invasion...anyone can drive up to your house and see what they see with streetview. They don't show anything personal, and blur license plates, faces, and other personal stuff. Terrorists don't care either since it doesn't help them. Turophiliac Posted April 3, 2009 Posted April 3, 2009 (edited) lol they caught my mom's old big honkin' suburban! Yeah, I don't really care if they can see my house. and taking pictures in public is perfectly legal, as it should be... and don't any of those people know that they're photographed and/or videotaped nearly every time they walk into a store? i think they just wanted something to be mad about. ccokeman Posted April 3, 2009 Posted April 3, 2009 Doesn't really matterto me . If they want to case my house they can drive by several times during the day. BFD
ClayMeow Posted April 3, 2009 Posted April 3, 2009 As jammin said, it's nothing some random person couldn't do...at least with Google, you know they have the decency to remove license plate numbers
