antec 900 + TRUE?

Recommended Posts

Been working on building a new rif for a while, and after reading a post it dawned on me "will the true fit in an antec 900?". I want to be able to put 2 fans on the true for push-pull, and I want to put the side panel fan. Anyone know if it will clear?

I'm pretty sure it will fit if you don't use the side fan. the case is 8.1" wide, subtract about 1" for the motherboard tray and the standoffs for the board, plus the thickness of the case metal, and that'll give you 7" or thereabouts. the TRUE is 160mm tall, so converting to inches we get about 6.3". so you should be able to fit the TRUE with about .7" to spare, which is not enough for a 25mm fan to reside in. 25mm~=1inch.

Hope that helps!

if you run just one fan as a puller you can still get away with a side intake or exhaust fan most of the time.

I had to snip the edge of the fan I put in the side intake vent to make it fit but I now Have a side fan.

TRUE = ThermalRight Ultra Extreme

We need a jargon buster

Edit: Damn, ninja edit :ph34r:

Edit2: Where the hell did the post go? :blink:

It's not bad enough that I feel like hell having Pneumonia, I didnt want to feel retarded as well!

I just measured my case and it looks like closer to 6.25 inches that converts to 158.75 mm so LMAO strike 2 for me!

wounder if I can change my name to FootInMouth ! I seem to do it a lot. hehe

dang ok, so i might not be able to fit the true and the side fan... wonder if I should just go with a thermaltake v9 (bigger top fan and can put a bigger front fan), only prob is I'm going with a gigabyte x58 ud4p which is blue, so that might look kinda jank with the red v9...

I honestly don't know what case a TRUE won't fit. I had it in both my Antec Lanboy and my Lian Li PC60FWB. If you ever used a lanboy, which IMO is the hardest case to put a modern gfx card in, then knowing that this fits pretty much says it will fit in almost any case. Believe me Lanboy has so little room that to have a 4870x2, 4850x2, gtx series card would require you to mod the case to fit it in.

Turophiliac: the thermaltake is a cast not a heatsink,

But thinking about it, a 1200 is almost the same as the antec 900. Would it fit better in the 1200? anyone had experience? I know that the width deminsions are about the same, but maybe since the fan is in a tiny different place, then the side fan might not touch it. anyone know?

yep compexpert...i had to get out the sheet metal sheers to get my 4850 x2 into my ultra aluminus cuz the hd enclosure is fabricated about an inch to close to the mb tray :bah: and i know this thread is with regard to the true but my sunbeam cc has 1 inch clearance to the plexiglass cover...just enough to make it... B:)
