cold_snipe Posted March 31, 2009 Posted March 31, 2009 its really a matter of preference; you could try something like fedora core or suse (not sure how suse works now) if you want something new user friendly. if youre up for a challenge and have a lot of time you could try gentoo. make sure to read up on it. if you dont mind simplicity and constantly checking third party sourses (ie. howtos) you could try slackware. just keep looking until you find something you like! note: you might have a hard time with the ati drivers~ many people do

cold_snipe Posted March 31, 2009 Posted March 31, 2009 yup! i completely gave up trying to get 3d acceleration on my previous rig with an x700 in it, after spending a few days trying to get it to run. if you really want fglrx try various versions of the kernels, some might work. also, if youre getting specific error messages you could always ask here

Doc[WSU] Posted April 16, 2009 Posted April 16, 2009 While it may be pay software, Crossover Office does a fairly decent job at getting Windows stuff up and running quickly: http://www.codeweavers.com/products/cxlinux/
