aviduser Posted March 30, 2009 Posted March 30, 2009 whats the Difference BTW 9600gt 512 & 9600GT 1gb1 gb performs faster gives more FPS or what? 1 gig is better for larger screens/higher res, 512 is fine for 1680x1050.
lankeyluke Posted March 30, 2009 Posted March 30, 2009 depends on the game really. GTA4 is the first game to really test vRAM, needing up to 2gb to run on full settings. If you want your card to last a long time you may aswel either 1.Get a 9800gt because there not much more and better, or 2. get the 1gb version in case you upgrade to a bigger moniter or run memory heavy games a lot
ir_cow Posted March 30, 2009 Posted March 30, 2009 (edited) in lower end video cards 1gb vs 512 really doesn't make a difference since it doesn't have the power to play at super high settings anyways. i find it a huge waste of money for a 9600. of course there is another side to this, if it cost only $5-10 more than it can be worth your while is rares cases. more memory usually only reflects AF settings and detail settings. like say if i only had 256mb alot of games need 512 to run smoothly at high detail settings, therefor it must swap out it's memory alot more often or on a lower systems is just overall choppy.
