AMMO-MSGT Posted March 27, 2009 Posted March 27, 2009 Hey guys/gals... I'm trying to beef up my 3g Adata ram to 6 or 12g's. I found out the hard way OCZ trichannel specifically designed for intel x-58 platform is not compatible with the MSI Platinum motherboard. I've reveiwed the MSI tested list but don't see any trichannel 1333 with heat shields for OCing. As my experience in this is limited, does anyone have some insight to help a brother out? Thanks! ccokeman Posted March 27, 2009 Posted March 27, 2009 My OCZ platinum tri channel kit works fine in my MSI X58 platinum. What problems are you having. I also have run this kit daya to day
AMMO-MSGT Posted March 27, 2009 Posted March 27, 2009 My OCZ platinum tri channel kit works fine in my MSI X58 platinum. What problems are you having. I also have run this kit daya to day Multiple system crashes after a month while running multiple applications. Would not boot in safe mode. Took it in to a repair shop and found sticks and sockets/board both good. Would not engage trichannel and multiple compatibility issues while they ran advanced diagnostics. They did validate that the bios setting were inline with ocz specs. OCZ did have 1g sticks on the tested list, my set...not. ??? ccokeman Posted March 27, 2009 Posted March 27, 2009 What is the model number on your modules? Mine needed higher than stock volts to run at their rated timings and speeds

Kingfisher Posted March 27, 2009 Posted March 27, 2009 I find it hard to imagine OCZ ram kits being incompatable. You might want to head over to OCZ forums and look for Ryder or Simon. They will be able to give you concrete answers on your RAM.
AMMO-MSGT Posted March 27, 2009 Posted March 27, 2009 OCZ3X1333LV6GK...not sure about the list of compatibility issues as several of the items discussed were beyond my understanding. At this point the OCZ has already been returned. Do you have any suggestions for a replacement model that is known to work well? Blaise Posted March 27, 2009 Posted March 27, 2009 I assume you tried the updated BIOS version to see if that was the problem. They list "improved memory compatibility" against v1.2 & v1.3. If the Eclipse is anything to go by, v1.3 for my board specifically stated "improved memory compatibility with OCZ".
