Overclocker16 Posted March 26, 2009 Posted March 26, 2009 I don't know how many of heard that a F-22 crashed yesterday morning outside of Edwards AFB around 10:30am PST. The pilot, 21 year veteran for the USAF and was a test pilot for Lockheed Martin (for those that don't know, the F-22 is manufactured by Lockheed Martin) was killed. It's unfortunent and the worst part is that the pilot was unable to eject safely. Goes to show that even with the best, most up to date technology, safety is still not always perfect. And unfortunently, a $140 million dollar jet and a priceless person were destroyed. Link - http://www.cnn.com/2009/US/03/25/california.crash/index.html Also on the air force website (af.mil) and many other news sites. Haven't heard really anything about anything yet. Of course they won't tell us what's going on until their board is done. It's bound to happen. Luckily this is only the second plane to be completely destroyed and third of which to crash, which goes to show it's got quite a history considering it's been flying since the early 90's. For a couple of the planes at least. So far, the jets are not grounded.
Turophiliac Posted March 26, 2009 Posted March 26, 2009 dang... that's really sad. I used to want to be a test pilot when i was younger, hehe. I never realized that dying could very well be part of the job, but sadly it is.
