d3bruts1d Posted March 22, 2009 Posted March 22, 2009 print screen and paste into MSPaint? Never really found a need for any kind of special program for that kind of function. Though there is software like Snagit, snippy, GIMP, and a million others.

Great_Gig Posted March 22, 2009 Posted March 22, 2009 (edited) Check this out, it's an awesome little program - beats the hell out of the 'PrtScrn' key and I have yet to find anyone I have shown it to, not to love it. Not only does it screen capture, but you can edit, crop and add effects, the list is endless. The current version is no longer shareware, but you can still find the free version (5.3 and younger) if you hunt around, which is the one I use. I totally love it FastStone Screen Capture - http://www.faststone.org/FSCaptureDetail.htm Edited March 22, 2009 by Great_Gig

Plus it is cheaper for me, and no, I'm not talking about warez, I have a fully legal copy, bought and paid for. Cost me $10. BKen Posted March 22, 2009 Posted March 22, 2009 If you need to take pictures of a small part of the screen on Vista, use the snipping tool. It came with my copy. It cuts out the middleman (photoshop, paint, etc.)

I do have Photoshop and use it all the time for photo retouching/editing, but there is nothing I have found as good as FastStone Capture, for quick and easy screen captures. You should try it before you dismiss it - trust me it's great. It really is so simple and quick. I have found a link to the version that is freeware. FastStone Capture 5.3 What's really great is it's ability to capture just the active window, helpful for doing quick user guides and stuff, as you don't need to crop anything.... I love it I just did this in about 10 seconds, it shows just a couple of it's features - highlights, borders, drop shadows. You try doing that in Photoshop as quickly? I got this done in just over the time it takes Photoshop to load! Edited March 22, 2009 by Great_Gig
Silverfox Posted March 22, 2009 Posted March 22, 2009 Print screen the active window? What that's just ALT+PrntScrn! Try it out
Great_Gig Posted March 22, 2009 Posted March 22, 2009 lol, indeed you are right, you still have to load it into something else to do all the things FastStone does, but hey if you don't like it no probs . . . I just happen to think it's great
