fast....have you ever cut anything before?

I used a rotary to cut a hole for a coolant fillport on the top of my rig. The case was made of steel but it felt more flimsy than the stainless steel pipe that that I have. That time I set the RPM to low cause I was afraid to break the disk even though I still still went through two disks lol.

it's only 1 CM thick, it's pretty thin. What RPM should I keep the rotary on?

1 cm of stainless steel is pretty damn think...I think you mean 1 mm. In any case, a rotary tool will tear through it pretty quickly. I've got a Black & Decker RTX and I've sliced through our garage door to install a new mounting bracket for the opener. Definitely want to cut metal at the tools maximum setting otherwise you're in for a long grind. Just make sure the disks are rated for rotary tools max speed otherwise you might have some problems.

Edit: Typos galore...
