Best AMD platform for OC

Recommended Posts

Greetings!

I have an AMD Athlon X2 7750 Black Edition CPU and I am looking for a decent mobo to OC it.

AFAIK The AMD 790## + SB750 is the best platform for overcloaking, but considering it's a bit expensive (~120 Euros) for my budget, what's the next best thing? (nForce 780a SLI perhaps  )

There are a few low cost 790gx boards that have superb overclocking potential.

Take a look at some offerings from Biostar.

Thank you for helping me. :)

Unfortunately Biostar mobos are not available in my Country (Yes Really)

So 790FX/X+SB600 is better than 780G+SB700 for OC?

The 790FX/GX chipsets with an 750SB tend to overclock better than a 790FX+SB600/780G boards.

If you cant find either, the 780g chipset is still pretty good for the price.

Defenitely try a 790GX if you can I like DFI, Gigabyte, foxconn, and ASUS but use what you can get.

I was able to get a 9850 past 4GHz with a 780a though so no complaints there.

780g is okay but better options exist.

I am currently using the AsRock 780a WiFi Sli paired with the Kuma 7750 and i have it @ 3.4Ghz stable. Just had to mess with mult and volt increases. Its been running prime95 for about 20 hrs w/o any hiccups.

Hope this helps......
