System Refresh

Well I've had this system in my sig for I dont even remember how many years now. My Thinkpad beats it in almost everything even. So I need to throw some new stuff into it. Sadly I'm in college so I dont have any money like I use to, but here is what I am thinking so far.

CPU: Phenom II X3 710

RAM: OCZ OCZ2G10664GK

The motherboard is what I am having problems with. Its been so long since I've really dug into this that I dont know any of the chipsets out right now. Pretty much I need something that will let me overclock, has a pci slot, and is cheap. I was looking at the Gigabyte MA78G series boards but If there is something cheaper that would be awesome. Possibly a 770 board? It just needs to support the am3 chips.

My friend got the ram that you want and he hates it. The heatsinks feel like plastic.I got this and its awesome, overclocks amazingly.

As for mobo i'd get this it has dual BIOS and a lot of copper to keep it cool

that Asus board is nice too. But i've heard bad things bout the board quality of them

Also i don't know if that will support AM3 out of the box but i know this will since it has a 790 chipset

When you do jump to a better board go AM3 socket. kind of an obvious statement XD
