Software To Convert Mp3's To Wav's

Ok I've tried about half a dozen different programs for this and all of them want me to pay them in order for their program to convert the whole file. Is there any program that will convert an ENTIRE mp3 to .wav for free?

It doesn't seem like this would be a hard program to make and don't see why it's so difficult to find one that doesn't suck. I just want to convert them to .wav and be able to adjust the bit rate and sampling rate.

I'm about to just throw my tracks into a video so I can have AoA extractor take the audio out in a .wav...

Mediamonkey can convert to wav for free, so there's always that. Without any additional plugins though like I have right now it seems to not let me change the sampling rate for it, but I'm sure you can get a free plugin for it that has better support. For barebones conversion though it will work for you.

I'm pretty sure Audacity can do this... although the bitrate of WAV files is pretty much fixed as it is not compressed, so it's the product of:

bitrate = number_of_channels * bit_depth * sample_rate

e.g. redbook CD audio

1411.2 Kbps = 2 * 16 * 44100

if you want to transcode the MP3 files to different bitrates/sample rates, you could use All2Lame to batch transcode files, using LAME, but with a frontend GUI

WinAmp can be set to Output = WAVE File Writer (or along those lines) and will write WAV(PCM) files according to that Output plugin's settings (I think redbook CD audio is the default)

Audacity works.

If you still have the CD get a program called Exact Audio Copy. It takes a lot longer to rip a CD but it does it as accurately as possible.

My music collection on my server is 100% from cd's and every cd i have gets riped into a .wav and a 320kbps VBR .mp3 so each CD takes 500-900 MBs

Ok, well Audacity did the trick for that. Now does anyone know how to convert MIDI's to Wave's?

I'm not even sure if this can be done based on what I've read. I saw that Audacity doesn't do it, but they say the Beta does, however it doesn't for some reason. I can't seem to do anything with Midi's in the current audacity version or the beta.
