Having Trouble Putting Rig Together

Recommended Posts

Touch the metal part of the cooler when it's at 50c.

If it is warm to the touch then the sensors are probably right.

You could touch it at 100c if you want. But that might hurt :D

actually, if its warm to the touch its probably wrong.

if the cpu says its at 100C and your hsf is stone cold, then heat aint being transferred. If your cpu is hitting 35 and you can feel a warmup on your heatsink that means its doing its job, getting the heat across. This is all given that your fan is running.

The temps shouldn't be that right for a stock 8400.

The HSF isn't mounted right. If the heatsink is cool to the touch, that means that the heat from the CPU to the heatsink on your HSF isn't being transferred. Keep on trying to get the pins out, and remount it.

NO! 100C on the processcer will MELT it. when its one and saying 50C idle, touch the heatsink, it should feel warm, lightly touch it if it says 100C again, if it the heatsink isnt REALLY hot then the heat is not getting from CPU to heatsink. RESEAT IT AND USE NEW THERMAL PASTE! there are articles all over the web to tell you how to do it. If you cant figure out the stock intel heatsink then get an aftermarket one with better directions.
