redtigerdragon Posted February 12, 2009 Posted February 12, 2009 I can't find anywhere to buy the phenom 2 720, and all the release dates say febuary. Anyone know?
fire_storm Posted February 12, 2009 Posted February 12, 2009 I think the AMD Phenom II X3 720 was just released on Feb 9. So it's only been out about 2 days so it's not surprising it hasn't hit the shelves yet. Usually CPU release dates are when they start selling the CPU's to online store's or retail store's so it might be a few more weeks before you actually see one for sale. Verran Posted February 12, 2009 Posted February 12, 2009 Yeah but i wanna do it with ddr2 not ddr3... Good man! :thumbs-up: Does AM3 support DDR2? Are there any benefits to AM3 besides the DDR3 capabilities?
JBags Posted February 12, 2009 Posted February 12, 2009 Good man! :thumbs-up: Does AM3 support DDR2? Are there any benefits to AM3 besides the DDR3 capabilities? From what I've read on the Phenom II and AM3 platform, it doesn't look like it. But, considering the memory controller is on the processor, which supports both ddr2 and ddr3, I don't see why it's not possible to put ddr2 slots on and am3 board.. Baulten Posted February 13, 2009 Posted February 13, 2009 The reason there are no AM3 boards with DDR 2 DIMMs is because you can just buy an AM2+ board with DDR2. Why waste resources making a AM3 board with DDR2?

damian Posted February 13, 2009 Posted February 13, 2009 Triple core?? Is another AMD crippled Quad yet again? <_< I wouldn't call it crippled (per se) if its on par with other AMD X4's http://www.overclockersclub.com/reviews/ph...0_810_am3/7.htm
