1.8 worked but I was running out of space on my raptor 150, I got one vmware/ubuntu installed then ended up formatting the drive and installing Vista Business 64 again. I have been wanting to get rid of that second partition with xp on it for awhile, I will have it all back running in a little while. :)

Ok, I took a sufficient hit in my GPU2 performance while running the SMP client. Hmm. Maybe I don't have enough horsepower to do this...or maybe I have to be more resourceful (just lowering the priority doesn't cut it).

http://cpulimit.sourceforge.net/

That just sounds optimum for what I want to do. I'll post back when I get it running. :)

There's no use in running SMP (~1500 PPD) if it drops my GPU2 from 4500-5000 to ~2000PPD

EDIT: Here's a teaser!! Took a SMP hit of about 300PPD (was a little over 1700PPD), but, GPU2 is back where it should be :)

Thanks for pointing this out Nate. I followed the Ubuntu guide on the site and I think I'm near max PPD. If only I could not get anymore of the 2165 pointers. They go so slow.

I tried notfreds diskless folding appliance with VMWare Player and found the only way to get it running properly was to increase the ram setting from 640MB to 1024MB. Monitoring is also flaky because most of the time FahMon shows the client is Hung when in fact it is not. Also when it does display the ppd it sometimes shows it being much higher than it actually is. You also must have a 64bit OS in order to use it. I'm testing it with Win 7 x64. Here's an example of the flaky results FahMon reports:

10 min per step seems to be the correct speed. This is using 2 cores of a [email protected].

Ok, mine was going unbearably slow, and finally got Vista 64 installed and then installed Ubuntu 8.04 64 bit in my two virtual machines. The first time I tried running it it was going unbearably slow. about 45 minutes per 1% on my Q6600. So I shut it down overnight and in the morning it wouldn't start up, saying the directory was not found.

I left it alone and went on vacation and tried to start it up again after the weekend and still no go. So I followed all the commands again to set it up all over again and now I keep getting a message that the unit's deadline has passed. So now how do I move on to a new unit?

I've tried following the instructions again in my other VM and same stuff. I tried following the instructions from the Folding@home site and I get it to run, but again when I shut down my VM's and turn them on the next morning I get the directory not found error.

I expanded my VM's hard drive usage from 4GB to 5GB, thinking that maybe the install wasn't saved for some reason. I will try following the instructions from the Folding page again, but my other VM is still giving me unit deadline passed message.

As far as the unit deadline passed, it should give you a new WU automatically, at least it does for me. What directory is not found? It may have something to do with where you are executing the command.
