Spaceman_Spiff Posted December 24, 2003 Posted December 24, 2003 (edited) Ok well here we go...I had to replace my kt-600 soyo dragon because i must have killed it somehow...but the only thing available at the store i was at was a Gigabyte GA-7VT600 1394. So i did the only thing any computer deprived person would do, i bought it. So i set everything up and the 1st time i boot it up it works...everything is going great...so i decide to go into the bios and see what little tweaks i can make it make it more homely...so after im done with that i save the changes and it reboots itself (because i just got out of bios) and I get nothing. So pop out the Cmos battery for 30 seconds and i turn it back on and it works. so i do the same thing...and it happens again...but i cant just pop it out and put it back in and it works anymore...for some supernatural reason the thing only boots up when it wants to...its no 50/50 either...it doesn't have anything to do at all with odds actually...its more of an established time or something...I need help, my mind is starting to regain confidence and is not being quieted by the sound of my fans (as little as it may be) Thanks, Spiff Edited December 24, 2003 by Spaceman_Spiff
Eva_Unit_0 Posted December 24, 2003 Posted December 24, 2003 To reset the bios you don't just pop the battery out...after the battery is out, you have to put the cmos jumper to "clear" for a few seconds and then back to the default position. Also, that Gigabyte board is much nicer than the soyo board. Gigabyte makes very good stuff, right alongside asus and abit and dfi. Soyo on the other hand... Spaceman_Spiff Posted December 24, 2003 Posted December 24, 2003 How exactly do you put the CMOS jumper to clear? Well ive heard you guys saying that soyo sucks...but my last board which was a kt-400 ultra platinum worked fine and i have no errors or anything at all...most stable pc ive ever owned...i think i got one bsod total...but yeah thats just my two cents...Im sure soyo or every company comes with their own pros and cons... AYoKoNA Posted December 24, 2003 Posted December 24, 2003 How exactly do you put the CMOS jumper to clear? Read the manual!
Spaceman_Spiff Posted December 24, 2003 Posted December 24, 2003 lol ironically i was reading the manual at the time and i was looking for that...Its not like the soyo where it has 3 pins and this one little white thing and you move it to the clear thing for a little while then put it back to normal...im pretty sure i know how...you just short out the two pins with some metallic device
