hobbienut Posted December 22, 2008 Posted December 22, 2008 Thank god I found this site! OCC is awesome! I've been researching and have finally come with what I think is a pretty good system. Take a look and please tell me what you think. I'm looking for a good overall budget system. I won't be playing Crysis or anything that big, so I'm not looking to burn a hole through my desk (maybe Diablo III if they ever release it). Will I be OC'ing it?? Do birds fly? I have some questions along with my picks. If anybody can answer them, I would appreciate it. I'm assuming so from what I've read. crazy8s846 Posted December 22, 2008 Posted December 22, 2008 (edited) You forgot the DVD. DDR 800 might limit your overclock. Edited December 22, 2008 by crazy8s846

maj0rgamer Posted December 22, 2008 Posted December 22, 2008 (edited) vista x64 is really the only way to go with a new system these days...wouldn't worry about a thing with it, it's a really good operating system. 32-bit is only going to limit your ram usage to about 3.25gb as that's about all a 32-bit operating system can handle. vista 64-bit can handle loads of ram and i havn't thrown a program or driver on it that was absolutely necessary which didn't work. there may be something here or there that may not work, but for the most part it's very compatible with past stuff Edited December 22, 2008 by Maj0r Gamer
tanka12345 Posted December 22, 2008 Posted December 22, 2008 Looks great so far. ^_^ I'd also recommend the 64 Bit Vista, 64 Bit will be the way of the future. Also it'll allow you too use all your RAM.
hobbienut Posted December 23, 2008 Posted December 23, 2008 Thanks for the advise. I'll stick with the Vista 64bit. How much RAM can Vista 64bit use? If I'm running a virus protection like BitDefender (which is a memory hog), would 8GB of RAM help? I can get the E8400 at a local shop for $149.99, but that's an extra $30 over the E7300. Is the money really worth it in the CPU, or would I be better upgrading the video to an HD4850?
Krieg1337 Posted December 23, 2008 Posted December 23, 2008 If you do get an E7xxx CPU, get the E7200 if you want to overclock, I have the E7300, and the sensors suck on the chip, so I can't see any of the temperatures. I've heard that others have this problem with the E7300 <_<
abid Posted December 23, 2008 Posted December 23, 2008 u should increase your PSU wattage... like 500W++.... then better buy the E8400.. its great for gaming... take 4850.. it would be better...
