Kaspersky Internet Security 2009 Or Trend Micro Internet Security Pro

Recommended Posts

Not sure there is a best--for all systems, all times, and all users.

Also, I am not a fan of all-in-one security packages.

You need a firewall, an antivirus program, and spyware protection (detection and removal at least; some provide real-time protection as well).

You can research alternatives at download.com. For each type, rank search results there by Cnet editors' ratings and read their reviews for their best choices; also rank search results by users' reviews, because editors don't review everything. (To sort search results there, just click on the corresponding column head.)

Been using AVG for years and have yet to experience any viruses. Keeping your system secure has more to do with the user than with the security software. If you go to malicious sites and just hit Yes to every dialog box that pops up, then no amount of security software is going to protect the computer from an idiot user. Change your computing habits and a basic anti-virus is all you need.

Well I've used Norton forever and the newest version has had reviews saying its the same protection w/ 1/4 the resources used, now is that true? I dont know. But I would deff, escpecially if your computer is used by people other than yourself, pay a little money for it. I had a friend in college who would download porn onto my pc when I wasnt there and I came in oneday to an absolute meltdown...true story. After I kicked his arse...I deff turned on user accounts and bought a full antivirus suite. Just one guys opinion. Good luck.
