Free Wifi At Airports = Win!

Free WiFi just has to be the most awesome invention ever! :D I'm currently chilling at Hong Kong Airport, waiting for my connection to Brisbane and have been enjoying free intarwebz for the past 1.5 hours or so :P

Spent 30 minutes searching for a power plug, now charging my laptop and my iPhone (via the laptop) in preparation for my next 8 hours of flight (been about 10.5 hours already).

In Frankfurt they didn't have any, but then again I could use it over my iPhone contract. More airports should offer it for free, really can't cost that much and just adds so much convenience to the travellers stay there!

yes on airplanes all wireless devices/phones have to be disabled/off/"airplane mode"

its inside the airports that there's alot of wireless networks. the problem is, mostly worldwide you will get wireless for free. in the US its all $7 an hour or $12 a day sort of thing. i spend way too much time at airports and can tell you that if your looking for free wireless, try to find club lounges for frequent flyers. usually they have free wifi inside and you can leech off it outside the room, also in some terminals, you can see where the employees go for their break-room..or at least the door they enter to get there. sometimes their lounges or break-rooms have wifi. and again you can probably leech off of that too. probably half of the ones iv'e found are unlocked. personally i think an airport that has $7 an hour wifi is criminal and complete gouging of the populace. but that's what T-mobile, AT&T and the lot charge.

A few airports here have free wireless, but throughout the whole of the terminal (usually near a Starbucks <_<) it's great for keeping passengers happy - I don't see why more don't do it. Our city has free wireless anywhere, but the airport isn't near the centre, so you can't use it... but it's small and I've never flown from there anyway

I know what you mean, I always get free Wi-Fi abroad, but only a handful of times have I been able to get free Wi-Fi at an American airport. Thankfully I have the iPhone 3G so connection speeds are tolerable (I have mine jailbroken, so I can tether my laptop to it if I don't want to stare at the small screen).
