TRWeiss1 Posted December 11, 2008 Posted December 11, 2008 (edited) Ok sound guru's, I am at a loss for this one...Here goes... I finally got myself a genuine copy of Windows XP Pro, reinstalled everything, and now only *some* of my sound works. The drivers are installed correctly, and everything is showing up as installed properly in device manager. I've also tried uninstalling/reinstalling the sound card and device drivers multiple times with no luck. Here are the symptoms... If you click on the sound icon in the task bar, I have about 8 extra sliders I didn't have before, and none of them control the actual volume level. (Yet if you go to the sound through control panel you can adjust that slider and it controls volume. Maybe the additional slider bars are controlling the integrated audio somehow?? They shouldn't be though, as I'm pretty sure that's disabled in BIOS). All games work fine except for Left 4 Dead and Doom III. There is NO audio whatsoever in Doom III...No intro music, no sound effects, nothing. In Left 4 Dead, I get the intro audio. However, once you get to the main menu all audio ceases, and there is no audio during gameplay. Not so much as even a crackle. All other games seem to work fine, and music plays accordingly. Startup and shutdown sounds play as they should, and everything else sound wise appears to be working. I am using the same sound drivers that I was previously on my hacked version of XP Pro. Is this what I get for attaining a genuine copy of Windows? lol What else is there to try here? I mean if the card was bad (or going bad) I wouldn't think that it'd work everywhere else. Thoughts? Thanks in advance! Edited December 11, 2008 by TRWeiss1
