I7 Vs Phenom 2's

Recommended Posts

Ok, so does anyone think the phenom 2's are gonna be up to a challenge with the new core i7's? I know both overclock well, with the phenom 2's going a bit crazier with LN2, but intel has multi-thread now so it's kinda like an eight core. I just wanted to get your guys opinion on how you think they are gonna stack up. I desperately need a new rig, but probably won't be getting it until mid FEB, so i can wait till the dust settles.

I was curious about the same thing. I'm on the verge of building a new system but I'm not sure if its worth holding out for the new AMD's to come out. I've always leaned towards AMD personally due to price/performance but the i7 920 is a solid deal hovering around $300 and all reviews Ive read of is seem favorable. Plus I've heard that people have been able to easily get clock speeds up over 3GHZ on teh stock cooling. right now I'm leaning towards the i7 but its based on a complete lack of solid info on the phenom 2's.

Do not know if the new Phenoms' 2 or 3 will overtake Intel's Core2 or Core i7. But I do hope they do soon, since I been using AMD Cpus' since the 1.4ghz Thunderbird (which was my first OC to a stable 1.9ghz on air). If they do show that they are making a comeback then I might build a second new computer instead of 1 every 2 to 3 years. :thumbs-up:

We have a AM3 review coming up next week followed by the Phenom 2 sometime after that :)

Awesome, this should help me decide what to get...I just cant pull the trigger on the i7 stuff thats sitting in my Newegg cart.

I've always liked AMD, but lately Intel has been out front
