kingdingeling Posted November 30, 2008 Posted November 30, 2008 TBH, I would go for the 9600GT build, then he can at least game a LITTLE bit if he wants to! Ohh, and it folds nicely

You're seriously underestimating the gaming aptitude of the 9600GT. I have yet to play any game that my 9600GT couldn't handle like a champion. My vote goes for PeterStoba's build. Can't really get much better for the money.

kingdingeling Posted November 30, 2008 Posted November 30, 2008 This rig is for audio work, therefore 4 cores are better. The mainboard is fine if you're not overclocking.
suchuwato Posted November 30, 2008 Posted November 30, 2008 Argh! You Guys! I ordered some stuff before all these replies... but fear not! It was spookily similar He's getting my current graphics card until he can upgrade, and my PSU - So I'm going to get me some shiny new parts soon Thanks for the replies though
Silverfox Posted November 30, 2008 Posted November 30, 2008 This thread is useless without specs
suchuwato Posted November 30, 2008 Posted November 30, 2008 Ended up being: Q6600 SLACR; P5Q pro; 4gb HyperX; SpinPoint F1 500gb (as system/programs, he's already got other drives for storage); Lian-Li 7B Plus 2; My Corsair HX520 and crappy x1950pro; his LG DVD drive. To make this thread useful, let's talk about my machine then... I'm thinking about a PCP&C 610 Silencer, and maybe a EVGA GeForce 9800 GTX+, but I'm not sure if I really want to overkill... kingdingeling Posted November 30, 2008 Posted November 30, 2008 Don't go for the Silencer, it has an 80 in there! Get a PSU with a 120, a BeQuiet Dark Power Pro maybe As for the GPU, I'd have a look at the HD48x0, or a 9800GTX+, although I'm not sure how long they'll be up to date...
