I get a free copy through the MSDNAA, which I will be redeeming soon to take advantage of DirectX 10.

With my MSDN:AA, the first release and then the release with SP1 had different keys, so vLiting SP1 into the original means I have two Vista x86 SP1 licenses, and two Vista x64 SP1 licenses, and three XP Pro SP2 licenses... etc etc

DF, if you sell or give the keys away to other people, you can get kicked off your course and fined by Microsoft... the programme is in place to provide student developers with the tools they need to produce software on various platforms

I think that it is a pretty good deal considering that version of vista usually goes for $110 dollars at normal price.

MSDN subscriptions are expensive I think the cheapest one you can get starts at $800 a year.

I personally use my Microsoft Technet subscription that I got from my school to get vista. There not that expensive to get I believe they start at around $350 dollars a year although there are coupons that are floating around online that reduce the cost to about $250-$300. Technet doesn't offer as much as MSDN because its more meant for a company's IT department to try out new software rather develop it which is what MSDN is meant for.

I believe the keys you get from Technet can be activated 10 times on 10 different computers before they run out although your suppose to be able to call Microsoft and there suppose to give you more keys if you need them.

Those system builder OEM copies of vista allow you to install the OS once, then if you have a failure in the system, install it once more. After that, you're S.O.L.

Yea dude, that's full of bull! You can easily reactivate it a million times if you want, just ring up Microsoft!
