Sceptre X24wg Or Samsung 2253bw

Recommended Posts

Ok, black friday deals are driving me insane.

I currently own the Samsung 2253BW. It's a great 22" 1680x1050 with 2ms response time and 1000:1 contrast ratio. It even has an IPS Panel, giving it great viewing angles. I think I paid around $230 or $250 US for it a few months ago. I love it a lot, but I recently saw this deal on Newegg for this monitor...

The Sceptre X24WG. It's a 24" 1920x1200 with a 4000:1 contrast ratio and 2ms response time. It looks great but it only has a TN panel giving it a lower viewing angle and since it's Sceptre, well I really expect the quality of the monitor to be lower than my 22" samsung. However, it's listed for only $200 US.

Looks like a great deal and I can't make up my mind! Should I go for the higher resolution and try to sell of my Samsung? I think I could get about $200 or a little more for it selling it online.

A bit off the topic, but I also think I should upgrade my graphics if I go with the 24". Although I am not really considering the cost of a new graphics card in my decision to get the 24" monitor. But, anywho, if I buy said 24" monitor, should I buy a second 4850 or trade up for a 4850x2, Gtx260, 280, etc. Newegg currently has an Asus 4850 for only $120, which is pretty nice. What do you guys think?

i doubt it will put too much strain on the 4850, worst case you could crossfire since you have an x38 board

and how do you find out what type of panel it is, I'm thinking my Acer monitor is that "TN" type you talk about because it has really annoying viewing angles (mainly up and down) if you are below a certain level the top of the screen gets darker (and if what it's displaying is dark it will pretty much become impossible to see)

How come you are changing monitors?

I would go with the Samsung, I personally like Samsung monitors.

For they GPU I would go with a second HD 4850, because of the high resolution Xfire should be good.
