If you've got a modern Asus board be aware that the mainboard temps shown are not the north bridge temperatures, rather the detection chip is right up in the right hand top corner of the board, a judiciously placed 80mm fan up in the top half of the case cable tied to the back of a spare drive bay took my motherboard temps down from 50 degrees to 24 degrees instantly

Its passively cooled? that motherboard is around $280, lame lol

i made sure mine is totally not passsively cooled (lol) but just for giggles just went in and turned the nb voltage down to 1.49 from 1.58(auto) and dropped 10 degrees celsius.....auto is way outta wack for this bios set-up (mine's the same as his) but i've just been living with it cuz i'm not finished with it but it hasn't ever gotten crazy hot considering what i'm asking of it.......like i said once i get the 1200 in mine some things are gonna get changed big time

Intel Q9300 @ 3.0GHz

Don't want to overclock too much :) these cpu don't oc well :(

right on........i don't have any experience with that cpu but i did run a q6600 on this board for awhile so i can help a little.......i believe you can drop your nb voltage down to 1.53 or 1.51 and still be ok on a 4 core......your temps will certainly drop but they're not bad as they are.....if you're not overclocking to any great degree you should be just fine at 1.51...!!..1.62 seems excessive to me..........like i said mine was 1.58 auto and it was too much......so there ya go................cj
