Medievaldragon Posted November 26, 2008 Posted November 26, 2008 (edited) I haven't kept much updates on current new systems since 2006. Can someone suggest computer parts for a Physix-capable video card? I would like to gear up for Diablo 3 and Starcraft 2. Please include suggestions and links for: - Motherboard - Video Card - Memory - Chip I would appreciate any tips to help me build a decent system. I built my Athlon-64 3400+ with BFG GeForce 6800GT in 2004. It is way outdated by now and AGP is no longer supported. I feel ashamed to even mention my computer's configuration. lol Edited November 26, 2008 by Medievaldragon

Medievaldragon Posted November 26, 2008 Posted November 26, 2008 Whats you budget? Maybe $500-1000 range. Depends how good the system is and if you convince me. That computer I built on 2006 costed me around $400 to setup. I remember I had an HP Pavillion on 2004. It burned two ATI Radeon 9800 Pro. And the computer finally stopped working. So by 2006, with Burning Crusade beta I salvaged a few stuff such as the memory, chip and DVD-R drive. Purchased a new motherboard, 250GB hard drive, BFG GeForce 6800GT, a 600w Power Supply and a Coolmaster Case. Slapped in $400 and good to go till now. The computer and the graphic card are in good condition. I just need to get a new computer ready for Diablo 3 / Starcraft 2 and move on to new technologies such as Physix and PCI-e video cards. Are you going to do any overclocking? Anyways this motherboard seems to be really good price/performance http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16813131299 This is a nice GPU http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16814102770 This memory. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16820227269 And this Processor http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16819115132 What Power supply do you have? You might need a new one to power this stuff.
Medievaldragon Posted November 26, 2008 Posted November 26, 2008 (edited) Thanks a bunch Darkfuneral1337. Good options. I can see the new tech configs in your suggestion in the current wave of computer parts. If anyone has similar or better suggestions I am open to listen before deciding. That option looks good thus far though, but it is never bad to see options. What are your thoughts on ATI Radeon HD 4870 (Cinema 2.0)? Is that any good for gaming over SAPPHIRE 100245L Radeon HD 4850? AMD and Blizzard partnered a few months ago, so I was wondering. http://www.amd.com/us-en/Corporate/AboutAM...tml?redir=cin01 I won't probably be salvaging stuff from my computer. I will give it to a family member. So I will be building a new system from the ground up. I will put in a 600w Power Supply (700 if possible) and a new Coolmaster system. DVD-R (cheap lately so no prob). And I guess I have to put a sound card. Mine is a Audigy 2 ZS. Outdated by now I bet.
