Krieg1337 Posted November 25, 2008 Posted November 25, 2008 Hey guys, Have you noticed that Neweggs shipping prices are horrible? About $20 for a case? $9 for a graphic card? $14 for a GPU+Mobo? Lucky for newegg that their prices are low, or else I wouldn't be a customer from them anymore.
maj0rgamer Posted November 25, 2008 Posted November 25, 2008 i like amazon...if you spend over like $25 they offer free shipping on most everything they sale. They got a pc case to me not too long ago, i think ups ground or maybe fedex ground, with free shipping and all was very nice. They usually get my orders out the next day too. You might wanna check them out if you don't use them already

dr_bowtie Posted November 25, 2008 Posted November 25, 2008 it all a marketing ploy.... if you take neweggs price plus shipping it's about the same as another places price with free shipping... people see the lower price of the product and just get it not paying attention to the shipping.... thats why newegg has now removed the shipping price from the add until you get it in the cart... I agree shipping prices are getting out of hand but the prices of product are still cheaper than retail...

Well on amazon they don't have recertified products, only reason im not ordering from them, lowest 8800GTS 512mb I could find was $180, compare that to $109+shipping its still less lol
CheeseMan42 Posted November 25, 2008 Posted November 25, 2008 I spent ~$400 yesterday and everything I bought had free shipping. 22" monitor, ASUS 4850, gigabit switch, gigabit NIC, memory, flash drive Did you ever consider that maybe UPS has increased the price on shipping? Thats crap lol, every other website has reasonable prices for shipping, just not newegg. I think newegg is known for high shipping prices though. MINDSCI Posted November 25, 2008 Posted November 25, 2008 I build a lot of computers, and I mostly order from Newegg. It's due to their low prices, 3 day shipping, GENEROUS RMA policies, rebate offers, and often I just wait til the items I want have free shipping. I was peeved when Newegg pulled the shipping costs from each item's description... So, I called and asked customer service why: They have done this so that with multiple item orders the shipping fees will be more accurately calculated by total boxed weight and box dimensions. One time before I ordered 3 case fans and 3 fan grills for about $30, and guess what, the shipping based on the per item method was $35! So I Live Chatted with customer service and moaned and groaned until they finally knocked $20 off the shipping... I'm hoping the new system works better now. I have ordered only a couple of times from Amazon- all was A-OK, but it seems they outsource a lot of stuff so that products can come from different vendors; that kind of scares me. Finally, shipping costs everywhere will probably remain high for quite some time as the high fuel prices during the last several Q's have put all the carriers in dire financial straits. Anyway, just my 2 cents worth.
Compxpert Posted November 25, 2008 Posted November 25, 2008 The key thing its to buy more than a few items at once. When they bundle things together shipping costs a lot less then it would for individual items.
